Getting a good take
It transcribed my playing as the wrong notes
It follows one line at a time. Sing, hum, whistle, or play a single-note melody — voice, guitar, keys, sax all work. Strummed chords played into the mic will not transcribe cleanly, and that is a limit of the approach rather than a bug waiting to be fixed: it tracks one pitch, so a chord gives it several answers at once.
The take sounds noisy, or notes get missed
Record somewhere reasonably quiet, keep the phone within arm's reach, and give each note a clear start. Very quiet passages and heavily reverberant rooms are the two things that cost the most accuracy. Backing music playing in the room will confuse it — it needs to hear your line on its own.
Can I hear a click without it bleeding into the recording?
Yes. On speakers the count-in click is silenced during recording and the beat is shown on screen instead — four pips walking the bar, with the downbeat washing the top edge — so the take stays clean. On headphones you get the click as well.
Key, tempo and chords
It picked the wrong tempo
Set it yourself, or tap it in. Changing the tempo does not touch your recording — only the harmony generated over it follows. If the song has no steady pulse, switch to free time and the chords will follow your phrasing instead of a grid.
One chord is wrong
Tap it. Each chord offers ranked alternatives, and picking one keeps your choice while the rest of the progression stays as it was.
Can I hear a Pro genre before buying?
Yes — every genre preset and backing band can be auditioned in full before you unlock anything. Locked rows stay readable and tappable on purpose.
Pro
I bought Pro and it isn't showing
Open the Pro screen and choose Restore purchases. That asks the App Store whether the Apple Account signed in on this device owns the unlock. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple Account you bought it with — this is the cause almost every time — and that the device is briefly online, since it is the one thing that needs a connection.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. One payment, kept for good, on every device signed into your Apple Account. Future updates — new genres, instruments and grooves — are included at no extra cost.
I want a refund
Refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us, since Apple takes the payment. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account that made the purchase. If the reason is something broken, tell me too — I would rather fix it.
Requirements
What do I need to run it?
iOS 26 on iPhone. Transcription runs on the device, so an older iPhone analyses a take more slowly rather than not at all.
Does it work offline?
Everything except buying or restoring Pro. Recording, transcription, chords, the band and every export work in airplane mode.
Where do my recordings go?
They stay on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and no audio is used to train anything — see Privacy for the detail.
Reporting a bug
Useful reports are specific. If you can, include:
- Your iPhone model and iOS version, and the app version from its App Store page.
- What you did, and what happened instead of what you expected.
- Whether the take was recorded or imported, and roughly what you played.
- A screenshot or a screen recording, which is usually worth more than the description.
Please don't send audio you would mind me hearing — and you never have to send audio at all. Anything you do send is used to reproduce the problem and then deleted.
